Introducing of PM Surya Ghar Yojana

First of all PM Modi announced this scheme as PM Suryoday Yojana on 22nd January. But later on PM Announced the scheme name as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (पीएम सूर्य घर मुफ़्त बिजली योजना) through their Official “X” Account on 13th February.

What is PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana?

At the launching event, PM Modi said that this PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) will provides sustainable solar energy to 1 Crore households of the state. At the same time they clarifies that this scheme for only poor and MIGs households.

  • During meeting, central government allocate fund of Rs 75021 Crore to the scheme.
Intention to launch 300 Units Free Electricity Scheme

Central Government has main goal through launching of PM Surya Ghar Yojana is to provide free electricity to the low and medium income group family of the country. That’s why they can’t dependent on traditional source of electricity. one of the other objective is to provide the encouragement of utilization of solar energy which is nearly to free and eco friendly too.

Financial Help under the Scheme

Central govt will provide two types of financial help to the beneficiaries of PM Surya Ghar Yojana. One is through subsidy and another one is through bank loan. Both helps will be discussed below.

Subsidy Amount under PM Surya Ghar Yojana

You are eligible to install 1 KW to 10 KW Rooftop solar under the scheme. But subsidy amount will vary from installation capacity of RTS (Rooftop Solar) system by the beneficiaries. You can easily understand subsidy structure by reading further.

Subsidy of 1 KW Solar Panel

If you install 1 KW capacity of solar then you will get Rs 30,000 subsidy amount under the scheme.

Subsidy up to 2 KW Solar Panel

If you want to install 2 Kilowatt Solar panel then you will get Rs 60,000 subsidy amount under the yojana.

Subsidy up to 3 KW Solar Panel

If you install 3 KW capacity solar panel through PM Surya Ghar then you will get 78,000 rupees as a subsidy amount.

Subsidy for 3 to 10 KW Solar Panel

If you are installing 3 to 10 KW capacity solar panel under the scheme then maximum you will get Rs 78,000 not more than that.

Solar Panel Loan Facility – PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

When Central govt nod to the scheme on 29th February, then after union minister Anurag Thakur said that applicant also will be facilitate finance options from the various banks and other companies. He further said that they will provide solar loan under PM Surya Ghar Yojana at minimum interest rate. PM Surya Ghar Yojana Benefits and Features
  • Model Solar Village:- Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that through this scheme central government will develop at least one village in each district of India as Model Solar Village. Due to this other village also motivate about Solar energy and aware about it.
  • Job Opportunity:- Installing 1 Crore solar plants on the rooftop there are high chance for the youth. Because as per the data declared by the minister nearly 1.7 million job vacancy will be created in various sector like solar technician, maintenance engineer, manufacturing units etc.
  • Reduction in Pollution:- Due to installing solar panel there are chance to reduction in CO2 emission. That is nearly 720 million ton in the next 25 years.
  • Rooftop solar loan at low interest:- As we discussed earlier that various banks and finance companies will provide solar loan at low interest rate to the consumers.
  • Green Energy Utilization:- Due to PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana India will become highest utilization of green energy among the world.
  • 300 Units Free Bijli:- Due to this scheme, those who installed rooftop solar panel will get 300 units free electricity every month.
  • Two method of Application:- If you want to avail the benefits of PM Muft Bijli Yojana then you will be free to choose either online application through PM Surya Ghar Website/Portal or through Post Office.
Eligibility Condition for PM Muft Bijli Yojana
  • Indian citizens are only eligible to avail benefits solar loan and solar subsidy under this scheme.
  • Only poor and middle income groups family are eligible.
  • Applicant must have own house and have a right of their rooftop.
  • Those who are government employee are not eligible for the scheme.
  • Applicant must have saving bank account on his/her name to receive subsidy amount.
  • Those who pay income tax to the government are also not eligible to receive subsidy benefits.
  • Must have sufficient space on the roof of the applicant’s house that’s why easily install the solar panel.
