First of all PM Modi announced this scheme as PM Suryoday Yojana on 22nd January. But later on PM Announced the scheme name as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (पीएम सूर्य घर मुफ़्त बिजली योजना) through their Official “X” Account on 13th February.
At the launching event, PM Modi said that this PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) will provides sustainable solar energy to 1 Crore households of the state. At the same time they clarifies that this scheme for only poor and MIGs households.
Central Government has main goal through launching of PM Surya Ghar Yojana is to provide free electricity to the low and medium income group family of the country. That’s why they can’t dependent on traditional source of electricity. one of the other objective is to provide the encouragement of utilization of solar energy which is nearly to free and eco friendly too.

Central govt will provide two types of financial help to the beneficiaries of PM Surya Ghar Yojana. One is through subsidy and another one is through bank loan. Both helps will be discussed below.
You are eligible to install 1 KW to 10 KW Rooftop solar under the scheme. But subsidy amount will vary from installation capacity of RTS (Rooftop Solar) system by the beneficiaries. You can easily understand subsidy structure by reading further.
If you install 1 KW capacity of solar then you will get Rs 30,000 subsidy amount under the scheme.
If you want to install 2 Kilowatt Solar panel then you will get Rs 60,000 subsidy amount under the yojana.
If you install 3 KW capacity solar panel through PM Surya Ghar then you will get 78,000 rupees as a subsidy amount.
If you are installing 3 to 10 KW capacity solar panel under the scheme then maximum you will get Rs 78,000 not more than that.
When Central govt nod to the scheme on 29th February, then after union minister Anurag Thakur said that applicant also will be facilitate finance options from the various banks and other companies. He further said that they will provide solar loan under PM Surya Ghar Yojana at minimum interest rate. There are more than 20 banks and finance company that will provide a low interest solar loan for PM Surya Ghar Scheme.
